The Casey-South Melbourne Cricket Club is proud to announce our on-field leadership team for the 2020/21 Victorian Premier Cricket season. This follows on from the recent announcement of the main parts of our coaching structure.
We are pleased to announce that for the 2020/21 Season we will have a new Captain and Vice Captain.
Taking over from Luke Wells as Captain is Michael Wallace.
Taking over from Nathan Freitag as Vice Captain is Devin Pollock.
Head coach Brian Keogh had this to say about the appointments.
“Wally and Dev are natural leaders and their work ethic, determination and loyalty to the club makes them great appointments. They both have so much to offer and will compliment and support one another very well.”
When asked for comment this is what the new leadership team had to say..
Captain Michael Wallace : “I am very excited to be named captain for the upcoming season and cannot wait to get stuck into the hard work with our whole playing group. CSMCC is such an amazing club to be a part of and I will do as much as possible to bring success to the club in the next few seasons and leave the club a better place after my stint as captain is over.”
Vice Captain Devin Pollock : “It’s a massive honor! I’ve been at the club for 8 years now and have had some wonderful leaders to guide me both on the field and at training! And obviously working under Wally will be fantastic! He’s a great leader and a great guy who all the boys get along with and admire! He’s been at the club since before I got here and he’s been on the committee now for three seasons so there’s no questioning his commitment and dedication to our club. He’s a natural leader who commands respect from his teammates and I’ve got no doubt that he’ll be a fine first XI captain for years to come! We have similar philosophies so hopefully I can help him out wherever needed! I’m already looking forward to getting stuck in and seeing where this season takes us.”
Re-appointed for a second year in charge of the seconds is…
“I’m really honored being asked to captain the Second XI again and can’t wait for the season to start”
Taking charge of the thirds again, along with duties as the development coach with the Damien Flemming Academy is…
“I’m really looking forward to the challenges of the new season and continuing to build the future of the club with some great young talent.”
Taking charge for a second year with the fours is…
“I’m thrilled to stay on as captain of the 4th XI at the Swans and to be joining the coaching panel for season 2020/21. We have a very talented list which I can’t wait to work with and guide the next wave of premier cricketers through the 4th XI.”
In regards to the re-appointments of the captains for the seconds, thirds and fourths head coach Brian Keogh had this to say…
“The re-appointments of Brayden, Pearso and Stu was a really easy call. They all did great jobs last season and made significant contributions on and off the field.”
We, as a club, look forward to building success across all four grades in the coming season and hope to see many family and friends along at the games when the season does get underway.
