So with COVID having made a mess of cricket in metropolitan Melbourne, several of the boys have got themselves some game time at other clubs.
We are already familiar with the success that Ash Chandrasinghe had up in Darwin during winter. Harrish Kannan has also taken a chance to go interstate to get a full season in up in Brisbane. His first few matches for South Brisbane are yet to give him the results he would want but we are sure there are bigger and better things to come.
Closer to “home” several of the boys got some matches under their belt as country cricket got under way this weekend.
Jordan Wyatt, Nathan Lambden and Leigh Diston, all in action in the Drouin against Western Park match. Jordan knocked out 30 at the top of the order and Nathan (batting at 4) made 5. He then managed 1/42 with the ball. Leigh Diston had figures of 0/29 and 10 runs with the bat.
Meanwhile in his match for Buln Buln against Yarragon Devin Pollock failed to get the scoreboard ticking batting at 3 and making only 5.
Jonah Serong had a good match with the ball for Longwarry against Neerim District, with figures of 7 overs 2 maidens 2 for 20. He also added 2 runs with the bat.
If there is anyone who has been missed, I am sorry. I did see that there were a few games that didn’t get under-way as I am assuming that pitch preparations were hampered by the wet week that we just had.
Good for some of the boys to get some cricket under their belts and fingers crossed that we will be able to get training under way next week and the Premier Cricket season started on November 21st as proposed.
